Kiosks are a great way to provide your church members and guests with the opportunity to make a donation and register for events on-site with their debit and credit cards. Here are a few tips to help you make your kiosk successful!
1. Location
Place your kiosk in an easily accessible location. Consider the exits of your worship facility and place the kiosk where your church members and guests can access it on their way out. Your patrons will be more likely to donate if they see the kiosks while they have giving on their minds. Or, place the kiosk near the door to the sanctuary so that givers can discreetly slip out to make their gift and quickly return to their seat.
2. Consider the screen positioning
With ServiceU Giving, you can turn any Windows PC into a secure giving kiosk without having to purchase an expensive commercial kiosk enclosure. However, your givers may still want privacy while making their gift. Simply position the kiosk so that the screen faces a wall or private area. This way, your givers have privacy while making their contribution.
3. Designate the purpose of the kiosk
With ServiceU's kiosk features, your kiosk can accept both donations as well as event registration payments from the same kiosk. However, you may want to consider limiting the kiosk to “giving only.” Your church members and guests want to be able to make their gifts quickly and easily while giving is on their minds. Sometimes registering for an event can take longer as participants respond to numerous questions, and waiting may deter your givers. Consider designating the kiosk for “giving only” for specific periods of time, such as the hour directly following worship service.
4. Get the word out
Be sure to announce that your church members and guests can now give their gifts with their credit or debit card from the kiosk. Make weekly announcements during each worship service, and include kiosk locations in the Sunday Bulletin and other newsletters. Make them feel comfortable with the kiosk by explaining the built-in privacy and security features.
5. Signage
Consider placing signage to communicate what the kiosk is. A simple sign explaining that the Windows PC is a “giving kiosk” will help your church members and guests feel comfortable approaching the kiosk to make a gift.
6. Have someone there to help
While the kiosk features are designed to be user friendly, consider having someone very familiar with the system available to help answer questions or help them through the giving process. Some members of your congregation will appreciate being helped through the process the first time, and will feel confident giving from the kiosk independently thereafter.
