August Founder’s Letter

Dear Friends,

I can hardly believe that August is upon us and the start of a new school year is just around the corner! While most educators enjoy planning out their curriculum, setting up their classrooms, welcoming new students, and continuing the learning process, most do not look forward to annual development pushes or serving as a “cashier” as they take checks and registration forms.

That’s why we’ve focused this month’s UNews on how schools can utilize TransactU to simplify both online event registrations and payments, as well as to accept online donations. In this article we’ll share with you how Heritage Preparatory School of Atlanta has benefited from the use of TransactU. We’ll also highlight other ways your school can implement TransactU.

I am also pleased to share with you that Microsoft has once again recognized ServiceU by publishing a case study highlighting the procedures that we employ to maintain a maximum availability of our software tools with minimum downtime. Learn more by clicking here.

Our team recently returned home from the National Association of Christian Business Administrators conference where I got to see so many familiar faces and visit with a number of our friends. It is always so rewarding to hear what a positive impact our products have on your ministries and organizations. All of us at ServiceU are truly honored that you’ve chosen our products.

Of course, I had more than one conversation about EventU Green at NACBA. I’m pleased to say that Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Anaheim, CA continues to receive positive media attention for their efforts to “go green” with EventU Green and other initiatives. Click here to read their profile from Church and Worship Technology. If you’re interested in saving 10-20% OR MORE on your energy bill, I encourage you to read more about EventU Green or give us a call at 866.709.7420 to have all your questions answered.

Even though we just returned from NACBA, we’ll be headed back out to the numerous tradeshows during the fall. If you’re attending MinistryCOM, Innovate, Catalyst or WFX, please stop by our booth and say hello! We’d enjoy connecting with you!

As always, we truly appreciate the opportunity to do business with you.

Sincerely,
Tim

Microsoft recognizes ServiceU’s procedures to guarantee maximum uptime

Microsoft publishes case study highlighting ServiceU’s procedures to guarantee maximum uptime
Microsoft has once again recognized ServiceU by publishing a case study highlighting the procedures we employ to maintain maximum availability of our software tools with minimal downtime.

“It is a tremendous honor that Microsoft continues to recognize ServiceU’s efforts to continually raise the bar with our best practices,”  says Tim Whitehorn, president and CEO of ServiceU. “Most importantly, we are so pleased that we offer our clients the best products available on the market today, with maximum uptime.”

This Microsoft case study outlines the procedures that ServiceU has taken to maintain high availability and its disaster recovery capabilities. By eliminating all single points of failure in our architecture, and developing procedures for patching servers, upgrading software, and implementing application changes that preserve high availability, ServiceU has achieved 99.99 percent uptime, including both planned and unplanned downtime.

“To me, this is a huge compliment because it demonstrates that ServiceU has what it takes to be online when our clients need us,” says David P. Smith, chief technology officer and chief security officer.   “And, it tells other software companies and businesses that ‘if you want a high availability system, do what ServiceU has done.’ ”

TransactU: Convenient for Your Patrons, Easy for Your Staff

Providing your members the services they need to conduct business with you online is convenient for them and easy for you. As you consider adding online donations and event registration to your church’s or organization’s website, you’ll want a solution that is convenient for your patrons to use AND easy for your staff members to use. Here’s a look at how TransactU does both!

What is TransactU?
TransactU gives your members and participants 24-7 access to register and pay for events and give online. Patrons simply visit your website when it’s convenient for them, whether your office doors are open or closed.

TransactU: Convenient for your patrons
With the increasing popularity of on-line bill pay, online giving is a convenient option for many of your church members.

Here’s a look at how your members can benefit from online giving from TransactU:

• Online giving – Most people appreciate the ability to make a financial contribution even when they’re not able to give in person. TransactU lets you provide your members and guests with the convenience of online donations, contributions or gifts to benefit your organization, anytime. With TransactU, your supporters can:
o Set recurring gifts and select amount
o Make payment with debit cards, credit cards, or e-checks
o Apply their gift to different funds

• Online event registration and payment – Make it easy for your participants to register and pay for your events. Instead of filling out hand-written forms, members simply go to your website to register for events and pay using their debit or credit card or an e-check. TransactU offers your members and guests:
o Paperless event registrations
o A safe, secure method to make online payments

• Secure, personalized transactions–The event registration and online donation pages can look and feel just like your website. When the transaction is complete, the user receives a receipt on the screen and via e-mail. Transactions appear on financial statements using your name (not ours), giving your patrons more confidence in making transactions online.

TransactU: Convenient for your staff

We understand how valuable your financial resources are.  We help make those resources go further by giving you easy-to-use and affordable software tools that help your staff members function more efficiently.

Here’s a look at how TransactU will help your staff members work more efficiently:

• Do away with maintenance – Because TransactU is hosted, you don’t need any special software, servers or programming; all you do is log-in and you’re on your way.

• Powerful reporting capabilities– Generate customized reports to find exactly the information you need and make accounting easier. A simple click exports report data into Microsoft Excel as well as other formats.

• Better financial accounting–By setting their giving recurrences, donors are more likely to give consistently. This helps your administration understand “the cash inflow/receipts” and allows for better planning.

• Receive funds directly – We assist you with the set up of your own merchant account so that funds deposit directly into your bank account. You receive funds quickly and easily.

Make event preparation easy–TransactU offers you many tools to help your staff prepare for an event:
o Limit the number of registrations that will be accepted.

o Specify the beginning and ending dates and times for registration.

o Select which information is required.

o Calculate fees based on their answers.

o Embed a graphic in a form or upload corresponding documents, such as a liability release form with a sports registration form.

o Let users store their information for convenient access, and to provide a complete online history of transactions.

• Avoid risks and liabilities – Because TransactU is completely hosted and meets rigorous PCI compliance standards, you’re not responsible for collecting and storing credit card or bank account information on your own server. We’ll handle all of that for you in our secure environment.

Try It Out!
See for yourself how TransactU can dramatically improve how you manage your event registrations and online giving.  Visit our TransactU webpage, or give us a call at 866.709.7120, and we’ll walk you through the software and answer all your questions.

TransactU Makes Online Giving Easier for Aid Sudan Donors and Staff Members

4Sudan is a land of mud huts with little access to clean water and electricity, and her people are in the need of hope and help. Aid Sudan is making a difference in growing strong southern Sudanese communities committed to serving Jesus Christ. Founded in 2000, Aid Sudan is a non-denominational, non-profit organization serving the southern Sudanese in several targeted locations in Sudan and throughout the United States.

Through their work, Aid Sudan engages the Southern Sudanese people in evangelism and discipleship. They enhance Sudanese lives through ministering to human need and empowering Southern Sudanese communities to develop and flourish. Aid Sudan also encourages Southern Sudanese Christians to serve as missionaries to their own people and embraces Southern Sudan and its international partners in striving toward a common goal.

Online giving is easier for donors to support Aid Sudan

Like most pure non-profit organizations, Aid Sudan relies on the ongoing donations from supporters to continue its works.  As the Internet has become more widely used and accepted over the past two decades, online giving has grown to play an essential and vital role for national and international non-profit organizations such as Aid Sudan.

“Online giving is extremely important to Aid Sudan as it allows people to be able to give in a safe and controlled environment,” notes Sarah Thompson, Director of Administration for Aid Sudan. “Online giving is a necessary facet of any non-profit organization as it makes it easier and less time-consuming for most donors.”

Finding the right solution for changing needs

In the summer of 2008, Aid Sudan was urgently seeking a user-friendly solution for online giving, local event registration, and their mission trip application process. Finding a “no hassle” software solution was of utmost importance to the organization.

“At the time, we were using a system that offered solutions for our needs, but we constantly received questions from our donors, event registrants, and mission trip applicants,” says Thompson. “It was time to invest in a system that was both user-friendly and cost effective. In researching solutions used by several large organizations and churches, we learned about ServiceU and it has been a great working relationship ever since.”

A user-friendly tool for staff members and donors

One of the most important aspects that Aid Sudan was searching for in a provider was a way to offer service for all of their users — both on the user’s end, as well as on the back end.

“ServiceU offers solutions for all of our needs,” says Thompson. “On the user’s end, the process was streamlined to eliminate any confusion in online giving or event registration. For our mission trip applications, we were able to produce one template to be used for all of our mission trips — greatly simplifying the process for our staff in these types of inquiries. Since purchasing TransactU, we have received virtually no complaints or negative feedback regarding online processes for giving and event sign-up. The benefits have been two-fold: our staff can spend more time on our mission to aid the Southern Sudanese and our supporters engage in a no-hassle online process. Additionally, the option to schedule recurring gifts gives donors the necessary tools to support Aid Sudan on a consistent basis without being taken away from their busy daily lives.”
