From our humble beginnings, ACTIVE Network | ServiceU has grown to be a world-class software development company. For more than ten years, we've been the leader in providing software that helps churches, schools, and nonprofits simplify and automate administrative processes by moving them online.
Today, we have more than 2,000 clients, including churches of all sizes and businesses ranging from small nonprofit organizations to Fortune 500 companies in all 50 states and 5 countries. We estimate that our software has coordinated the scheduling for more than 15 million events.
Furthermore, we've been featured in case studies by Microsoft, AMD, and Dell for our commitment to supporting our clients with the most cutting-edge technology and best practices available today.
Here's a look at how it all got started.
First-Hand Experience Plants the Seed of an Idea
The seeds of ACTIVE Network | ServiceU were planted when our founder and CEO, Tim Whitehorn, realized the challenges facing the staff and volunteers of his church as they managed and prepared for their events.
As a volunteer himself, he saw the time wasted in holding weekly staff meetings to plan the calendar . . . the money wasted on carbon paper used to duplicate handwritten forms . . . the frustrations when a minor detail changed . . . the double bookings . . . the time, effort, energy, and resources taken away from what the church staff and volunteers were truly there to do . . . He knew there had to be a better way!
A Better Way Evolves
With a background in computer programming and software development, Tim and his team began putting together a software program to streamline the facility and resource management for the church's events.
With a lot of hard work and commitment from Tim's team, ACTIVE Network | ServiceU was born. The software did what Tim set out to accomplish, and the church's success with the software was so staggering that Tim knew other churches, organizations, and businesses could benefit from such a solution. In the summer of 1999, ACTIVE Network | ServiceU began to offer ServiceU as a completely web-based scheduling system.
Client Feedback Leads to New Products
As ACTIVE Network | ServiceU gained popularity, we worked with our clients to develop other beneficial software tools. We soon discovered that churches and other organizations needed an easy-to-use way to accept online donations and event registrations, resulting in our Giving solution.
We added online box office management and event ticketing in response to the challenges of managing ticket sales for Christmas and Easter programs, concerts, and other ticketed events. With ACTIVE Network | ServiceU, our clients sell reserved and general admission tickets online.
We recently launched ACTIVE Network | ServiceU Green, our tool that automates heating and air conditioning online based on your event schedule. ACTIVE Network | ServiceU Green has demonstrated significant reductions in energy costs and usage as well as labor savings.
On the Horizon
But we're not resting on our laurels. We are actively developing new solutions to help our clients succeed. In fact, our clients' feedback and suggestions inspire the development of our innovative tools.
